The short version
The short answer
ObservePoint is a scanner: it loads your pages and journeys on a schedule and checks what fires. TagSentry is a monitor: it reports what fires for your real visitors, as it happens, and emails you once when an event stops. Many teams would use a scanner before a release and a monitor every other day.
Where ObservePoint is better
- Testing before release. Scripted journeys can check a checkout on staging before real visitors ever see it. TagSentry sees production traffic, so it can't test what hasn't shipped.
- Coverage of pages nobody visits. A crawler reaches every page on its list. Real-traffic monitoring only sees pages people load.
- Breadth. It audits privacy, accessibility and tag accuracy across large estates, with enterprise reporting.
Where TagSentry is better
- Real visitors, all the time. A scan shows what fired when the scanner came by. We show what fired for the people buying from you, as they arrive.
- The failure that blends in. When a purchase event starts arriving without a value, the tags still fire and reports quietly count sales at zero. A key event arriving with empty fields is a Pro alert on TagSentry.
- Payload shapes, never values. We record what shape each event had and where it was sent, not the visitor's data.
- Consent in the same place. Monitoring follows the consent rules for each visitor's region, and you can see which tags waited for consent.
- Price. Free up to 250,000 events a month, then $19 up to a million.
Price, side by side
Prices read in September 2026. ObservePoint publishes a calculator, not a list price; the figures below are third-party reports.
| ObservePoint | TagSentry Event monitoring | |
|---|---|---|
| Free | About 300 page scans (third party) | 250,000 events a month, 14 days of history |
| Entry paid | About $599 a month (third party) | $19 a month, up to 1 million events, 30 days |
| Billed by | Page scans | Monitored events |
Switching
You don't have to switch. Many teams keep a scanner for release testing. To add TagSentry:
- Create a site and add monitoring. If you use Tag Manager, we can add our monitoring tag through your connection after you approve it.
- Or paste our one line first in
<head>, which also runs consent. - Pick your key events, like
purchaseorgenerate_lead, so alerts know what matters.
Questions
Does TagSentry crawl my site?
We run a free scan that opens your homepage as a new visitor. Ongoing monitoring comes from real visits, not crawls.
Will it tell me about spikes in conversions?
Not today. Alerts cover events that stop, key events that drop or arrive empty, and new trackers.
