The short version
The short answer
Cookiebot is a solid, well-known consent tool, and it is the right pick if you need IAB TCF for ad revenue. TagSentry is built for sites on Google Tag Manager that want the right rules per region, a price that follows usage instead of page count, and live proof that their tags still fire.
Where Cookiebot is better
- TCF and Google certification. Cookiebot is a Google-certified CMP with IAB TCF support. If you run AdSense or Ad Manager in the EEA or UK, you need that. TagSentry does not offer TCF today.
- Maturity. It has been around for years, many agencies know it, and plenty of practitioners call it simple to manage day to day.
- Integrations. It ships plugins and apps for most platforms. TagSentry works on any site where you can paste one line, but our WordPress and Shopify apps are not published yet.
Where TagSentry is better
- Pricing that rises with use, not page count. Cookiebot's paid plans scale with how many subpages your site has. TagSentry charges each site by visitor decisions per month, starting free, then $9.
- Rules for where each visitor is. EU, UK, Switzerland, Brazil, Quebec and more ask first. California and the other US states run on opt-out rules, and a privacy signal (GPC) counts as an opt-out in the states that require it. Applying the strictest rule to everyone is the most common reason data drops after a banner goes up.
- Live monitoring in the same product. See every event and the tags it fired, with payload shapes, and get one email when an event stops. Cookiebot records the choice. It does not show you what fired after it.
- Storage region on every plan. Pick EU or US storage for each site, including Free.
- The banner never stops. Passing the free allowance or a billing problem never takes your banner down.
Price, side by side
Prices read from each vendor's site in September 2026.
| Cookiebot | TagSentry Consent | |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 domain, up to 50 subpages | Up to 5,000 decisions a month |
| Entry paid | €7 per domain a month (Premium Lite) | $9 a month, up to 25,000 decisions |
| What drives the price | Subpages per domain | Visitor decisions per site |
| Large site | Up to €90 per domain a month | $99 up to 2 million decisions |
A decision is a visitor answering your banner. Returning visitors whose choice is remembered, privacy signals and withdrawals are recorded but not billed.
Switching
- Scan your site free to see whether your banner stops your trackers.
- Create a site in TagSentry and copy its one line.
- Remove the Cookiebot script from your site, or its tag from Tag Manager.
- Paste our line first in your site's
<head>, above your Tag Manager code. - If you use Tag Manager, connect it. We sort every tag by purpose and show you the plan. Nothing is written until you approve, and every change is a new version in your own Tag Manager, naming the one it replaced.
Existing Cookiebot consent records do not move across. Keep your export for your own records. Visitors will be asked again the first time they see the new banner.
Questions
Does TagSentry support IAB TCF?
Not today. If your revenue depends on programmatic ads in the EEA or UK, stay with a certified CMP.
Will my Tag Manager setup keep working?
Yes. Our line sits above your Tag Manager code and never loads or changes it on the page.
